I visited my lovely friend Veronica Paige and her wife, for the first time in 18 months yesterday. The day began wet and foggy, but in the afternoon the Sun came out and we were able to sit in the garden. Due to recent weight gain caused by a bit of minor ill health, I felt that I was able to achieve a more convincing femme presentation by dressing in an older way. It's a look that I like to visit on a regular basis, and I enjoyed wearing my grey permed wig and a lovely floral dress.

Transgender stories: 'People think we wake up and decide to be trans'
From a teenager whose mum joins him at Pride parades, to a year-old who was sacked five times for being trans, five people tell of their experiences. Nikki Hayden, 26, psychology student, London. One of my earliest memories, about five years old, was being yelled at by a teacher for going to the toilet with the girls.
The nightly news loves stories about trannies. People think they're odd and don't understand them and don't want to talk to them. Just like old people!
