Art contest: West Tennessee Artisan Trail’s first annual “Food as Art” contest open to all West TN artists. Must be a resident of West Tennessee. Deadline to enter: If by email, midnight Sept. 12. If by regular mail, must have your entry by 5 p.m. Sept. 12.

Age Divisions: 13-18; 19 and up.
10 Art Categories: pottery, jewelry, woodturning, photography, painting, drawing, glass blowing, sculpture, textiles, metalcrafts.
Entry Fee: $25 per entry or $50 for two or three. No more than three accepted. Checks should be made out to West Tennessee Artisan Trail. There is a $20 fee for all returned checks.

Art digital entry submissions: Submit 3 digital images in jpeg format at 800 pixels/300 dpi of your work on CD or flash drive along with your entry form describing your work to West TN Artisan Trail, 124 E. Baltimore St., Ste. 118, Jackson, Tenn. 38301. This is a box drop-off at Express Mail in downtown Jackson. Or you may submit by email to email@example.com.
Art sizes: The specification is any type of art — with two-dimensional art not exceeding 40” x 40” and three-dimensional not exceeding 60” x 30” wide x 40” deep.
Prizes: Each category will receive ribbons for first, second, third and certificates; however, the judges reserve the right not to present a first place award in a category. The first place winner in each of the 10 categories per age division (assuming there are entries in each category) will be entered in the overall prizes: $1,000, first place, sponsor: Dr. Laura Nord and Fleur de Lee Restaurant; $500, second place; $250, third place.
Awards: Final judging, morning of Oct. 1. Awards announced at 11 a.m. at the West TN Artisan Trail Boutique Gallery (in the big 20 X 30 tent east of City Hall in the crossroads). Reception and cash awards presented at 3 p.m. Oct. 1 at Fleur de Lee Restaurant. Each sponsor will have information about their company in the 10 X 10 awards tent at the front of the WTAT tent. Each sponsor receives media coverage, print, broadcast and online with links to the sponsors’ websites.
Winners must claim their awards at the reception, following the contest — the day of the event.
Jurors: Chief Judge: Bill Hickerson, curator/director at West TN Regional Arts Center.
Deadline to enter: Midnight, Monday, Sept. 12. Digital images will be juried by Friday, Sept. 16. Winners will be notified by phone call or email on Monday, Sept. 19.
Art Delivery: The art will be delivered on Saturday, Oct. 1, the day of the event by the artist at 8 a.m. and will be judged by 11 a.m. The West Tennessee Artisan Trail is not responsible for their art. The artist should have show insurance, but this is not a requirement to enter.
WTAT Artists Fees:
- Yes, WTAT members can enter the “Food as Art” contest.
- West Tennessee Artisan Trail members will pay regular fees to the International Food and Art Festival which are $75 each. The West TN Artisan Trail Boutique Gallery Tent will be set up east of City Hall in the crossroads.
